Masked gang raids home of F1 legend Prost, leaving him injured

Four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost suffered a head injury after a masked gang raided his home in Nyon, Switzerland, forcing a family member to open a safe before fleeing.

Formula One legend Alain Prost suffered a head injury when a masked gang raided his home in Nyon, Switzerland, approximately 25km north of Geneva, according to Swiss media reports.

Vaud cantonal police confirmed a family was targeted at around 8:30am on Tuesday, though they did not name the victims. “Several masked individuals entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated,” a police statement said.

“The perpetrators then forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing,” it added. The value of stolen items is still being assessed.

A large-scale search operation was launched involving Swiss and French police and border security, while a psychological support team has been provided to the family.

Prost, 71, is one of Formula One’s greatest ever drivers, winning four world championships in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993 with McLaren, Renault, Ferrari and Williams.
