According to BBC News, Iran has accused the United States of a “gross violation” of a fragile ceasefire after fresh airstrikes targeted missile sites and boats near the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command said the operations were “self-defence strikes” aimed at preventing mine deployment in southern Iran.
Tehran condemned the attacks as “aggressive and unjustified,” warning of consequences and insisting it will respond at a time of its choosing. The escalation comes amid ongoing diplomatic talks involving US and Iranian officials, with mediation efforts reportedly led by Pakistan and discussions held in Qatar.
Despite rising tensions and disruptions in the key global oil shipping route, US officials say negotiations are still possible, though progress remains uncertain.
