Africa CDC reports over 1,100 suspected Ebola cases in DR Congo, Uganda

More than 1,100 suspected Ebola cases are currently under investigation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighboring Uganda, according to Barron’s. The alarming figure was disclosed by Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya in comments published on Sunday.

The outbreak has already resulted in 263 confirmed cases and 43 confirmed deaths across the two countries, raising concerns among health officials as efforts to contain the virus continue. The disease involved is the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, which has posed unique challenges for health authorities.

According to reports, the outbreak is stretching healthcare systems in affected areas, with officials emphasizing the need for stronger regional cooperation and faster response measures.
