According to CNN, the showdown came amid a major overhaul of CBS News led by editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and new 60 Minutes executive producer Nick Bilton. Pelley openly criticized the changes and questioned the leadership’s qualifications, prompting CBS to terminate his employment “for cause.” The network said his conduct showed he had no interest in working collaboratively.
