A former Air Canada pilot is facing criminal charges after Canadian police alleged he spent nearly 17 years flying passengers with a fake captain’s license, CNN reports.
According to investigators, Geoffrey Wall commanded more than 900 domestic and international flights between 2009 and 2025, operating Boeing 767, 777 and 787 aircraft despite allegedly lacking the Airline Transport Pilot License required for captains.
Police said Wall was discovered during a routine credential review in 2025, which revealed irregularities in his licensing documents. The investigation, dubbed “Project Icarus,” led to his arrest on June 1.
Authorities say Wall earned nearly C$3 million during the period and now faces multiple charges, including fraud and possession of counterfeit documents.
Air Canada stressed that safety was not compromised, noting Wall regularly passed mandatory training and flight competency checks. Wall is due in court on June 29.
