Video shows TESLA ‘Autopilot’ crash into home, killing grandmother

A Tesla Model 3 crashed into a Katy, Texas home on Friday night, killing 76-year-old Martha Avila as she put away groceries.

A Tesla crash has reignited concerns over the carmaker’s driver-assistance tech after a vehicle barrelled into a Katy, Texas home, killing a grandmother, The New York Post reports.

Authorities say the Model 3 veered off the road, tore across a lawn, and smashed through the front wall of the house. Martha Avila was struck inside and later died in hospital.

Driver Michael Butler, 44, reportedly told investigators the car’s automated driving system was engaged at the time. Officials haven’t confirmed Autopilot’s role.

The NHTSA has opened an investigation. Tesla hasn’t commented.
