Trump vows US support as Venezuela reels from twin quakes

Trump has pledged urgent US assistance to Venezuela after twin earthquakes killed over 160 people, with Rubio confirming rescue teams and aid are already on the way.

Washington isn’t waiting around on this one.

President Trump has promised urgent US support for Venezuela after twin earthquakes killed more than 160 people and injured nearly 1,000, The Washington Times reports. He called the quakes “massive in scale,” leaving a heartbreaking death toll, and said US agencies were told to prepare for swift action.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed search-and-rescue teams, medical resources and humanitarian aid were being deployed immediately.

The quakes struck northern Venezuela, damaging buildings and shaking communities as rescuers dig through rubble.

Trump said America stands “ready, willing, and able” to help the country’s “new and great friends.”

Acting leader Delcy Rodriguez is overseeing recovery as international aid moves in, The Washington Times reported.
