Trump has threatened a 100% tariff on European exports to the US if any country moves ahead with Digital Services Taxes targeting American technology companies.
President Donald Trump has fired a fresh warning shot at Europe, threatening sweeping 100% tariffs on any country that proceeds with Digital Services Taxes on American tech firms. In a social media post, Trump said several European nations are either discussing or actively moving toward such levies and vowed to hit back hard.
Under Trump’s terms, any country that introduces the taxes would immediately face a 100% duty on all goods exported to the United States superseding any existing or future trade agreements. The tariffs, he warned, would kick in without delay.
The threat marks a sharp escalation in Washington’s ongoing standoff with European partners over the taxation of Big Tech, an issue that has repeatedly strained transatlantic trade relations.
