President Donald Trump has tapped Lance Schroyer, a former U.S. Marine and Oklahoma state trooper, to be the next director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to Washington Post, Trump announced the nomination on Saturday, praising Schroyer’s nearly three decades of law enforcement experience and calling on the Senate to confirm him swiftly. If approved, Schroyer would take the helm of the agency driving Trump’s aggressive immigration enforcement push — including escalating arrests and deportations.
The ICE director post has gone without a Senate-confirmed leader for years, with acting officials plugging the gap. Schroyer’s nomination, reported by major outlets including the Associated Press, follows the earlier departure of acting chief Todd Lyons.
