James Barker, executive producer of Love Island USA, has died at age 40 after an unexpected medical emergency while the hit reality series was filming its eighth season in Fiji.
According to The Sun, Barker joined the franchise in 2020 as a story producer and rose to executive producer, a role he held for the past three seasons. ITV America and Peacock confirmed his death, calling him “a beloved and greatly valued member of our collective family” whose kindness and talent left a lasting mark.
The networks said Barker would be honored in the following episode of the show. He also worked on Queer Eye, Pawn Stars and Love Island Games. He is survived by his partner, Adam Roth, who paid tribute to him in a statement.
