Venezuela Presses UK For Frozen Gold
Venezuela wants its gold back — and it’s going straight to the King to ask.
According to a report by Reuters, interim President Delcy Rodriguez revealed she sent a letter to King Charles requesting the release of Venezuelan gold held at the Bank of England, as the country’s earthquake death toll rose to 3,811. The Bank has long refused to release roughly 31 tons of the bullion, a dispute tied up in British courts for years.
Rodriguez said she also spoke with the IMF chief about unlocking additional funds, insisting Venezuela has enough frozen overseas assets to finance reconstruction if released.
