Police have released the 26-year-old man arrested over the murder of former UK cabinet minister Ann Widdecombe, saying he’s no longer part of the investigation.
Suspect Released in Widdecombe Murder Probe
The man arrested a day after Ann Widdecombe’s death is off the hook — for now. According to Punch, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the 26-year-old has been released and eliminated from their inquiries into the killing of the 78-year-old former MP.
Widdecombe was found dead at her Dartmoor home Thursday with “serious injuries,” prompting a murder investigation. Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman said detectives are pursuing multiple leads and have ruled out terrorism as a motive.
Police urged the public not to speculate online, calling it harmful to the case and distressing for Widdecombe’s family, who’ve asked for privacy during this difficult time.
