EU to Restrict Children’s Social Media Access
The European Union plans to limit young children’s access to social media across its 27 member states, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced Monday, according to Reuters via Peoples Gazette.
The proposal, based on expert recommendations, would restrict under-13s to limited, supervised social media use, with curbs lifted gradually as teens age. “The question is no longer if children face risks online, but what can we do to give them a safer start,” von der Leyen said.
She’s expected to detail a concrete plan at her State of the Union address in September.
