President Trump threatened to revoke ABC and NBC’s broadcast licenses after the networks declined to air his election integrity address live.
Trump Threatens ABC, NBC Licenses Over Speech Snub
President Donald Trump renewed threats Thursday to pull the broadcast licenses of ABC and NBC after the networks skipped live coverage of his East Room address, according to Axios. He called them “fake news” and said “fraud like this should mean a revocation of their licenses.”
Only Fox and CBS preempted primetime programming for the speech; ABC and NBC streamed it online instead, while CNN didn’t carry it at all, drawing a rebuke from the White House’s rapid response account.
The pushback comes as FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, a Trump ally, escalates probes into broadcasters, including an active investigation into ABC’s “The View” and ABC’s ongoing license renewal fight.
