According to Reuters, Al-Hayya, the group’s exiled Gaza chief and chief negotiator, has emerged as a key figure in Hamas since the deaths of Sinwar and former political leader Ismail Haniyeh. Analysts said his appointment could indicate a firmer position against international calls for Hamas to disarm.
