Ukraine’s president says Moscow’s surveillance data is reaching Tehran, timed to Iranian strikes on US-linked sites in the Gulf.
Ukraine Says Russia Feeding Iran Real-Time Intel on US Bases
Zelensky accused Russia on July 25 of actively assisting Iran’s military campaign, claiming Moscow has been running satellite surveillance over Gulf states and US facilities there since early July, according to a post on X by the Ukrainian leader.
He said the imagery consistently ends up in Iranian hands, with strikes following a clear pattern: reconnaissance before attacks, then follow-up passes to assess damage. On July 19 and 20 alone, four air bases — two in Bahrain, one each in Jordan and Kuwait — reportedly fell within range of Russian satellites.
The accusation lands as Iran threatens retaliation against Ukraine over a drone strike on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea, which Kyiv says was ferrying military cargo between Russia and Iran. Tehran says the strike killed one sailor and wounded another, and has called it a violation of international law, per the Tehran Times.
Zelensky says Ukraine also hit a warship in the same operation.
