Trump hails Lindsey Graham as ‘giant of the US Senate’ at funeral

President Trump led tributes to the late Senator Lindsey Graham at his Washington funeral, calling him a “giant of the United States Senate” who died doing the work he was born to do.

President Donald Trump paid tribute to the late Senator Lindsey Graham at his funeral in Washington on Tuesday, describing him as a “giant of the United States Senate” and a “true American original” dedicated to public service. Graham died earlier this month at 71 from an aortic dissection after returning from a visit to Ukraine.

According to the BBC, Trump said Graham “died doing the work he was born to do,” recalling his influence on major global issues. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended alongside Vice President JD Vance and other senior officials.

Trump also reflected on his once-contentious relationship with Graham, recalling their alliance after 2016 despite earlier clashes. Speakers including Sean Hannity honoured Graham’s legacy, while Trump offered condolences to his sister, Darline Graham, now appointed to fill his Senate seat.
