Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif has received an invitation from President Donald Trump to join the Gaza Peace Council, established as part of the second phase of the ceasefire process in the Gaza Strip, according to a report from QNA. Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi said, “Pakistan will continue its engagement in international efforts to achieve peace and security in Gaza, leading to a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with UN resolutions.”
The White House earlier disclosed that the council will oversee Gaza’s interim administration and includes figures such as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Jared Kushner, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and US National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel, with former UN envoy Nikolay Mladenov named High Representative for Gaza, while additional members are expected to be announced.
