Authorities say a Minnesota man was arrested after allegedly posing as an FBI agent in an attempt to free murder suspect Luigi Mangione from a Brooklyn detention center.
A Minnesota man allegedly tried to secure the release of Luigi Mangione from a New York jail by impersonating an FBI agent, law enforcement sources told ABC News. Mangione is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits federal and state trials in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Mark Anderson, 36, was charged with impersonating a federal agent after allegedly claiming he had paperwork “signed by a judge” authorizing Mangione’s release, according to a criminal complaint. Prosecutors said Anderson presented a driver’s license and documents to officers and told them he had weapons, including a barbecue fork and pizza cutter.
