Border tsar Homan pledges gradual drawdown of forces in Minneapolis

The Trump administration is scaling back its federal presence in Minneapolis following controversial officer-involved shootings but maintains it will continue its immigration mission through more “targeted” operations.

White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed Thursday that federal forces will “draw down” in Minneapolis following the fatal shootings of U.S. citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Homan emphasized the mission remains active, stating, “We are not surrendering our mission at all. We’re just doing it smarter.” The move follows intense public outcry and calls for administrative resignations.

The planned reduction of “Operation Metro Surge” depends on increased cooperation from Minnesota officials regarding jail transfers. Despite the shift, Homan defended the crackdown, which has seen ICE deportations exceed 480,000 this year. “President Trump wants this fixed, and I’m going to fix it,” Homan pledged, as local leaders continue to demand a full withdrawal of federal agents.
