House Democrats seek access to unredacted Epstein files

Citing concerns over “institutional incompetence” and improper redactions, House Judiciary Democrats and bipartisan lawmakers are demanding immediate access to the millions of unredacted Epstein files still being withheld by the Justice Department.

House Judiciary Democrats requested an “urgent” review of unredacted Justice Department files Monday, challenging claims that the agency satisfied its legal obligations. Ranking member Jamie Raskin noted the DOJ identified 6 million pages but released only half, stating, “We seek to ensure that your redactions comply with the act’s requirement” and are not based on “political sensitivity” or “reputational harm.”

The request precedes Attorney General Pam Bondi’s February 11 hearing. Bipartisan sponsors Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna also demanded access, citing a “blanket approach” to redactions that left some victim names exposed while protecting abusers. Survivors called the release a “betrayal,” asserting the process remains incomplete “until every legally required document is released and every abuser and enabler is fully exposed.”
