William Stevenson has been indicted for first-degree murder following a domestic incident that resulted in the death of his wife, Linda, at their Delaware home.
William Stevenson, 77, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Linda Stevenson. Following an “extensive weekslong investigation,” a Delaware grand jury issued the indictment. Police originally responded to a domestic dispute on December 28, where they found the 64-year-old victim unresponsive. Stevenson is held on $500,000 cash bail.
The victim was remembered as “deeply family-oriented” and a local business owner. Stevenson, who founded the famous Stone Balloon Club, was married to Jill Biden for five years before their 1975 divorce. While a cause of death has not been released, officials confirmed the case was referred to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
