The US Justice Department has released new investigative documents and images detailing the final hours and official findings surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s death in federal custody.
Previously unreleased photographs of Jeffrey Epstein’s body and jail cell have been made public in a massive document release by the US Department of Justice. The materials include an FBI death investigation and a Metropolitan Correctional Center report, containing images taken after Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell on August 10, 2019, while emergency responders attempted life-saving measures.
The documents also outline events leading up to his death, including his last court appearance, a phone call on August 9, and staffing lapses overnight. Officers are quoted as saying, “We did not complete the 3 a.m. nor 5 a.m. rounds,” and, “We messed up.” Epstein was pronounced dead at a hospital at 7:36 a.m., with authorities maintaining he died by suicide.
