FCC probes ABC’s ‘The View’ over equal time for political candidates

The FCC has opened a probe into ABC’s “The View” over equal-time violations, sparking pushback from late-night hosts and highlighting stricter enforcement of political airtime rules.

The Federal Communications Commission has launched an investigation into ABC’s “The View” following Texas Senate candidate James Talarico’s appearance, amid the FCC’s renewed enforcement of equal-time rules for political candidates. A source told Fox News Digital, “Fake news is not getting a free pass anymore,” noting that ABC never filed an equal-time request, signaling it viewed the program as bona fide news.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr defended the crackdown, citing laws dating to the 1950s. The policy requires networks to provide equal access to all legally filed candidates, either through interviews or campaign ads. Late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert criticized the move, calling it a threat to free speech and an attempt to silence liberal voices.
