Governor Tim Walz says Minnesota may see an end to the Trump administration’s federal immigration crackdown within days after talks with top officials.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said on Tuesday he expects the federal immigration crackdown by the Trump administration in the state may end within days. Speaking after discussions with Trump’s border czar Tom Homan and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Walz said, “Minnesota has asked that this surge of folks leave… we are talking days, not weeks and months, of this occupation.”
The crackdown, which deployed about 3,000 federal agents, has faced protests following the fatal shootings of U.S. citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Rights groups condemned the operation, saying it fosters fear among minority communities. Walz added, “We’re very much in a ‘trust but verify’ mode,” emphasizing ongoing monitoring of the withdrawal process.
