Federal investigators have recovered a DNA profile from a glove found near Nancy Guthrie’s residence that reportedly matches the equipment worn by the primary kidnapping suspect seen on surveillance video.
The FBI announced a major forensic breakthrough on Sunday, identifying an unknown male DNA profile from a glove found near the home of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie. The glove appears to match those worn by a masked, armed prowler seen on doorbell footage the night Guthrie vanished. Investigators confirmed, “The one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject.”
The recovery comes as the search for the mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie enters its third week. Preliminary results from a Florida laboratory are currently undergoing quality control before being entered into the national CODIS database. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos emphasized the discovery’s significance, identifying the individual in the footage who was carrying an “Ozark Trail” backpack as the primary suspect in the investigation.
