Billionaire Lex Wexner tells US lawmakers he was ‘naive’ and ‘conned’ by Epstein

Billionaire Les Wexner testified to Congress that he was “conned” by Jeffrey Epstein and had no knowledge of his crimes, despite lawmakers’ claims that his financial support was essential to Epstein’s illegal operations.

American billionaire Les Wexner, the former CEO of Victoria’s Secret, testified before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, describing himself as “naive, foolish and gullible” for his decades-long trust in the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking to Democratic lawmakers at his home in Ohio, Wexner accused Epstein of functioning as a “world-class con man” who misappropriated “vast sums” of money from his family while serving as a financial adviser.

Although a 2019 FBI document once listed Wexner as a potential co-conspirator, he maintained that he has “done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide,” asserting that he cut ties in 2007 upon discovering Epstein’s financial and criminal misconduct. Democratic lawmakers expressed skepticism over his denials, with Congressman Robert Garcia stating, “Mr. Epstein would not be the wealthy man he was without the support of Lex Wexner.” Despite these accusations and thousands of mentions in investigative files, Wexner remains uncharged and insists his relationship with the financier was largely professional and manipulative on Epstein’s part.
