A CNN poll shows most Americans oppose the Iran strikes, doubt President Trump’s strategy and expect the conflict could become prolonged.
Nearly six in 10 Americans disapprove of the U.S. decision to launch military strikes in Iran, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS. Overall, 59% oppose the action, while 41% approve, with 56% saying a long-term conflict is at least somewhat likely. President Donald Trump said Monday, “I don’t want to see it go on too long. I always thought it would be four weeks.”
The survey found 60% lack trust in Trump’s decision-making on Iran and 62% believe he should seek congressional approval for further action. While 77% of Republicans approve of the strikes, just 18% of Democrats agree. Additionally, 54% said Iran would become more of a threat as a result of the military action, and only 12% support sending U.S. ground troops.
