President Donald Trump said Iran’s leadership and military are “gone” and dismissed any prospect of talks as too late, while Tehran questioned the viability of negotiations.
US President Donald Trump has declared that Iran’s military, air defenses, navy and leadership have been effectively destroyed, insisting that any attempt by Tehran to seek dialogue now is “too late.” In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump said the operation was ahead of schedule and reiterated his commitment to eliminating Iran’s missile capabilities and preventing it from acquiring nuclear weapons. He also indicated that deploying US ground troops had not been entirely ruled out.
Iran, however, signaled skepticism about negotiations, with its ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva saying the current situation was not conducive to talks and that the language of defence now prevails. The exchange of statements comes as tensions remain high following intensified US and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.
