Hegseth: US, Israel to gain “uncontested” control of Iranian airspace

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the US and Israel are close to uncontested control of Iranian airspace, vowing an intensified and sustained military campaign.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday that the United States and Israel are on the verge of achieving “complete control” of Iranian airspace during Operations Epic Fury and Roaring Lion. “In under a week, the two most powerful air forces in the world will have complete control over Iranian skies – uncontested airspace,” he said, adding that US and Israeli forces would operate “all day, all night.”

Speaking at the United States Department of Defense headquarters, Hegseth declared, “This was not meant to be a fair fight, and it isn’t,” and asserted, “Iran will never possess a nuclear bomb, not on our watch, not ever.” He said US forces had moved over 90% of troops out of missile range and described American air defenses as “unprecedented.”
