Trump reveals Iran’s ‘present’: 10 oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz

Trump says Iran allowed 10 oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz as a goodwill gesture, even as fighting continues and prospects for a peace deal remain uncertain.

U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that Iran allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz as a “present,” signaling possible willingness to negotiate amid the ongoing conflict. Speaking during a Cabinet meeting at the White House, Trump said the move — eight tankers followed by two more — suggested the U.S. was “dealing with the right people.”

Despite the gesture, fighting continues between Iran, the U.S., and Israel, with officials offering mixed signals on the prospects for peace. While envoy Steve Witkoff emphasized diplomacy, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said negotiations would continue alongside military action. The U.S. has also proposed a 15-point peace framework, though Iran has denied active negotiations and presented its own demands.

The administration acknowledged uncertainty over the war’s endgame, with Trump keeping options open, including potential escalation. Meanwhile, rising public opposition and economic concerns, including increasing fuel prices, are adding pressure, even as the president maintains the conflict is a temporary setback in a broader economic recovery.
