Tiger Woods faces DUI and property damage charges after a rollover car accident in Florida on Friday where he allegedly showed signs of impairment but refused to provide a urine sample for testing.
Golf icon Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Friday afternoon after his Land Rover clipped a truck and rolled onto its side during a high-speed overtaking maneuver in Jupiter Island, Florida. Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek reported that while Woods’ breathalyzer test was negative, the 50-year-old displayed “significant signs of impairment” and was subsequently charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful urine test.
Authorities confirmed that Woods was not seriously injured in the crash his third major vehicle incident following a 2017 DUI arrest and a severe 2021 rollover and was able to exit the vehicle through the passenger side. The arrest occurs as Woods was preparing for a potential comeback at next month’s Masters Tournament, leading Sheriff Budensiek to tell reporters: “When it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused, and so he has been charged with DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.”
