The global “No Kings” movement is staging thousands of protests this Saturday to oppose President Trump’s military intervention in Iran and his domestic immigration policies, drawing support from a diverse political spectrum and high-profile activists.
Organizers of the “No Kings” movement have scheduled more than 3,000 nonviolent demonstrations across the U.S. and abroad this Saturday to protest the Trump administration’s military operations in Iran, large-scale immigration crackdowns, and current economic agenda. Spanning from remote Alaska to international locations like Kenya and Iceland, the movement seeks to unite a broad coalition of “Republicans and independents and Democrats and people who don’t care about the political system,” according to organizer Ezra Levin, who described the rallies as a stand against “monarchical rule and authoritarianism.”
High-profile figures including Bruce Springsteen, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are expected to attend, with Walz specifically highlighting the “epicenter” of immigration enforcement in Minneapolis following the fatal shooting of two residents by federal agents. Highlighting the anti-war sentiment of the movement, Levin told NewsNation that the Middle East conflict is something “the vast majority of Americans did not want,” while Public Citizen co-president Lisa Gilbert framed the protests as a patriotic “vision of the country we deserve” ahead of the nation’s 250th birthday.
