Donald Trump may reduce military operations against Iran within weeks while emphasizing diplomacy and regional support, even if the Strait of Hormuz remains partly closed.
US President Donald Trump is reportedly ready to scale back military actions against Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Administration aides said forcibly reopening the vital shipping route could extend the conflict beyond the preferred four-to-six-week timeline. The focus, they said, will shift to weakening Iran’s naval and missile capabilities.
At a White House briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the operation had always been expected to last four to six weeks. “Trump has always stated four to six weeks, estimated timeline. We’re on day 30 today. So again, you do the math,” she told reporters. Leavitt added that the president “wants to see a deal over the next 10 days” and may call on Arab states to help cover war costs.
