Iran has officially declined to participate in a second round of negotiations with the United States, citing “US excessive demands and unreasonable, unrealistic requests” and a continued naval blockade as primary obstacles to diplomatic progress.
Iran’s official state news agency, IRNA, reported Sunday that the country has rejected participation in a second round of talks with the United States, citing a lack of progress fueled by “US excessive demands and unreasonable, unrealistic requests, repeated changes in positions, and continued contradictory statements.”
Beyond diplomatic inconsistencies, Iranian officials pointed to the “continuation of the so-called naval blockade, which is considered a violation of the ceasefire understanding, along with threatening rhetoric” as significant barriers to further engagement. Consequently, the state media outlet concluded that “under these conditions, no clear prospect for productive talks is envisaged,” signaling a deepened stalemate between the two nations.
