A Florida pastor who wrote a book on marriage has been arrested on bigamy charges after authorities alleged he had multiple wives.
A Florida pastor who authored a marriage advice book has been arrested over allegations that he had multiple wives. Leslie Williams, 62, was taken into custody in The Villages on Wednesday on an outstanding Georgia warrant for bigamy, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Williams is being held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center pending extradition to Georgia, where Rockdale County authorities issued the warrant on April 3. Investigators have not disclosed details of his first marriage, but Williams announced a new marriage to a woman named Cindi on Facebook in December.
Williams later praised his new wife online, writing, “Thanks for all the wonderful comments referencing my saved, beautiful and talented wife, Mrs. Williams! She’s saved for real, praise God!!!” The pastor is also the author of “Love Her Like This: Loving Her Has Never Been Deeper,” a 2017 book on marriage and biblical love.
