An Indian man, Jeetu Munda, exhumed his sister’s skeleton and carried it three kilometres to a bank in Odisha to claim her $206 savings after officials refused to release the funds without the account holder present.
Police later intervened, attributing the incident to illiteracy and poor communication by bank staff. Authorities have since promised to help Munda obtain his sister’s death certificate to process the withdrawal.
