The estate of NASCAR legend Greg Biffle, who died alongside his family in a December plane crash, is now facing $30 million in wrongful death lawsuits alleging the aircraft was not properly maintained.
The legal fallout from the deadly December plane crash that killed NASCAR legend Greg Biffle and six others is now intensifying.
The estates of pilot Dennis Dutton and his son Jack have each filed $15 million wrongful death lawsuits against Biffle’s estate, claiming his Cessna C550 aircraft was not properly maintained.
The National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report revealed troubling details — the left engine had trouble starting, and Jack Dutton, who served as co-pilot, was described as “not qualified” to operate in that role. Less than ten minutes after takeoff, he was heard saying: “…we’re having some issues here.”
Biffle, 55 and named among NASCAR’s 75 greatest drivers, died alongside his wife Cristina and their two children. The NTSB investigation remains ongoing.
