PayPal has agreed to a $30 million settlement with Trump’s Justice Department over a race-based investment programme the DOJ described as unlawful DEI discrimination against white Americans.
According to Mediaite, PayPal has reached a $30 million settlement with the Trump administration’s Department of Justice over what prosecutors described as an unlawful DEI initiative that discriminated against Americans based on race and national origin.
The DOJ launched its investigation after PayPal created a fund in 2020 to invest specifically in black and minority-owned businesses, which authorities said “gave a preference to businesses based on race, color, and national origin.”
Under the settlement terms, PayPal must launch a new race-neutral Small Business Initiative, waiving processing fees on $1 billion worth of transactions for veteran-owned businesses and those in farming, manufacturing, and technology.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche issued a stark warning to corporate America: “American corporations are on notice. You will face our aggressive enforcement if you use race or national origin to discriminate against qualified Americans.”
