A new national poll has placed Secretary of State Marco Rubio ahead of Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 Republican presidential race, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis showing his strongest polling numbers in months.
According to Florida Politics, a fresh national survey from Atlas Intel has upended early 2028 Republican presidential projections, placing Secretary of State Marco Rubio firmly at the top of the field with 45% support — 15 points ahead of Vice President JD Vance.
Governor Ron DeSantis came in third with 11% support, his strongest showing in recent polling, while no other candidate reached more than 1%.
The survey, conducted May 4-7, arrived just days before President Trump polled Rose Garden attendees on whether they preferred Rubio or Vance, ultimately calling them a “dream team” and a “perfect ticket.”
Rubio’s momentum is also reflected in the Kalshi prediction market, which rates him the most likely candidate to win the presidency outright in 2028, though Vance holds a narrow edge in the nomination market at 34% to Rubio’s 31%.
