The gap between U.S and Iranian positions is massive:

U.S demands from Iran:

•⁠ ⁠Zero compensation
•⁠ ⁠Hand over 400kg of uranium
•⁠ ⁠Only one nuclear facility allowed
•⁠ ⁠No frozen assets released
•⁠ ⁠Ceasefire only if talks go well

Iran’s demands:

•⁠ ⁠Full ceasefire everywhere (including Lebanon)
•⁠ ⁠All sanctions lifted
•⁠ ⁠Frozen assets released
•⁠ ⁠War damages paid
•⁠ ⁠U.S recognizes Iranian control over Strait of Hormuz

Both sides are miles apart. America wants maximum pressure and total capitulation on all fronts.

It’s impossible to see how Iran could ever agree to Trump’s demands or vice versa.
