18-Year-Old Becomes Youngest Professor Ever
A teenager just rewrote a 300-year-old record book. According to Tribune Online, American educator Nathan Thomas became the youngest professor ever at 18 years and 346 days old, returning to Miami Dade College to teach a computing course in August 2023 — beating Colin Maclaurin’s 306-year-old record set at age 19.
Nathan enrolled at the same college at just 10, transferred to Florida International University at 14, and earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering with honours by 18.
He’s now pursuing a Juris Doctor at the University of Miami, aiming for a career in intellectual property law, while still teaching online courses alongside his studies.
