Another Ebola treatment center burned in Eastern Congo, 18 suspected cases escape

Chaos has erupted again in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo as angry residents attacked and burned down an Ebola treatment tent, forcing suspected patients to flee in panic.

According to AP News, the incident happened in Mongbwalu, where locals stormed a medical facility run by humanitarian workers after growing anger over Ebola response measures. During the confusion, about 18 suspected Ebola patients escaped into the community and are now unaccounted for.

This marks the second such attack in a week, as tensions rise over strict burial protocols and treatment restrictions tied to the outbreak.

Health workers say the situation is worsening mistrust between communities and responders, making it harder to contain the virus. Authorities are now tracking the missing patients while reinforcing emergency measures across affected areas as fear spreads through the region.
