Hamas dissolves Gaza administration

Hamas has dissolved the Emergency Committee that has governed Gaza since 2007, clearing the way for a technocratic body to assume administrative control.

HAMAS DISSOLVES GAZA’S GOVERNING BODY

The Hamas government announced the resignation of Emergency Committee head Mohammed al-Farra, paving the way for the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) to take over, a body created by the Board of Peace that US President Donald Trump established when he brokered the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in October 2025.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem told AFP the move removes “pretexts” for continued Israeli military action. Other Palestinian factions reportedly welcomed the decision at a Cairo meeting as a step toward stabilising Gaza.

Hamas maintained that disarmament remains unresolved, insisting a Palestinian administration must be established before it hands over weapons, according to Tribune.
