A tragic incident in Huntsville has left a family devastated after a 28-year-old mother, Molly McKelvey, died by suicide hours after her infant daughter was allegedly killed. Authorities said the four-month-old, Lotus McKelvey, was rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive but was later pronounced dead due to severe internal injuries.
Police arrested the child’s father, Mickele Kaipolai Ah-Nee, who has been charged with domestic-violence murder. Investigators said he was with the child at the time of the incident, while an autopsy confirmed the baby died from complications linked to traumatic injuries.
Family members described the back-to-back deaths as devastating, noting that the mother took her life the following day, leaving behind two other children. Authorities say investigations are ongoing as relatives seek support to cope with the loss.
