According to BBC News, bodycam footage shows 18-year-old Henry Nowak repeatedly saying “I can’t breathe” after being stabbed in Southampton in 2025 while officers placed him in handcuffs. Police initially acted on killer Vickrum Digwa’s false claim he was a victim of a racist attack, causing confusion at scene.
Despite Nowak’s pleas he had been stabbed, officers briefly questioned his condition before CPR was started minutes later. Digwa has since been jailed for life with minimum 21-year term. The IOPC is investigating the police response ongoing official probe.
