Iran launches new Hormuz transit permit system – Press TV

Iran has implemented a mandatory permit and email-based regulatory system for all vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has introduced a formal regulatory mechanism for maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Press TV, vessels intending to transit the strait will receive an email from the Persian Gulf Strait Authority outlining rules and regulations for passage. This digital notification system marks a shift toward stricter administrative oversight in one of the world’s most vital energy corridors.

Under the new protocol, shipping companies must coordinate directly with Iranian authorities prior to entry. Ships are required to adjust their operations according to the framework and obtain a transit permit before crossing the Strait of Hormuz, the state media report added. This move signals Iran’s intent to exert greater legal control over the waterway, potentially impacting global shipping logistics and regional maritime security frameworks.
