Iran has rejected negotiations with the United States as military tensions escalate, with both sides reporting strikes and casualties.
Iran will not hold negotiations with the United States, Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, said on Monday. Responding to reports that Tehran had approached Washington through intermediaries, Larijani stated: “We will not negotiate with the United States”. He also accused US President Donald Trump of destabilising the region.
Larijani said Trump “has plunged the region into chaos with his false hopes and is now worried about further losses among American troops”. Trump earlier announced a large-scale US operation against Iran, with Israel also carrying out strikes. Iran responded with attacks on Gulf states hosting US bases. The US military confirmed three service members were killed in action.
