Iranian state television aired a controversial broadcast mocking the reported death of US Senator Lindsey Graham, with an anchor congratulating Iranians and declaring that Graham had “been sent to hell.”
The anchor remarked that the news was “so good” she wanted to read it twice before repeating the segment. The blatant on-air celebration reflects the deep, historical hostility Tehran’s hardline political establishment held toward the veteran Republican senator, who spent decades pioneering aggressive military strategies and sanctions frameworks targeting Iran.
The remarks came as US President Donald Trump led tributes to his longtime ally, calling Graham “one of the greatest people” he had ever known. Graham, a veteran Republican senator known for his hawkish stance on Iran, served South Carolina for decades and remained an influential voice on US foreign policy.
