North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, has branded US efforts to denuclearise North Korea an “anachronistic dream,” rejecting Washington’s position ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pyongyang.
Kim said North Korea’s status as a nuclear weapons state is irreversible and dismissed reports that Donald Trump and Xi shared a commitment to denuclearisation. She accused the US and South Korea of driving regional tensions through military build-ups while defending Pyongyang’s expanding nuclear programme.
The remarks come as North Korea accelerates missile production and deepens ties with Russia, further complicating international efforts to curb its nuclear ambitions.
